7/30/23 BOIL ADVISORY

7/31/23 10:45am Update:

Update on the boil advisory:
• Water testing is currently underway, and we will hopefully receive an update on the expected duration of this advisory soon.
• Because there is no loss in water service, there are currently no plans for Baden Borough to provide bottled water. The advisory provides instructions on how to safely prepare water for consumption.

Regarding emergency notifications:
• Last night, Baden Borough staff notified the 911 Center in Ambridge of the boil advisory and requested that emergency notifications be distributed.
• This morning, Borough staff was informed that boil advisories are no longer included in the list of incidents for which notifications are sent. Baden Borough was not made aware of this change in advance.
• Borough staff and officials are currently exploring alternative emergency notification systems.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

This is a message from the Baden Borough Water Department. We are currently under a water alert from our bulk water supplier, Ambridge Water Authority which requires to you as a consumer to take the following actions.

Boil water or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

The waterline break was not in the vicinity of Baden’ s intake line. At no time was the Baden Water System alerted for low water pressure. The circumstances exist within the Ambridge Water Authority’s Distribution System that caused a reduction in water pressure which may adversely affect the quality of drinking water. The boil water alert will stay in effect until the DEP authorizes Baden Borough to lift the boil water alert.

Please note that the Baden Water Department is testing the water and taking the necessary steps to ensure that your water is safe for use and consumption.
